Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. Some can even cover extra costs that result, such as cost of food that spoils when your fridge dies. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.

Appliances can be large, heavy and expensive. You probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new appliances should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty. But if you're like most of us, protect yourself by purchasing inexpensive extended warranties when you buy a new product and save yourself big money in the long run.

EPIC Protect Plans

We're here for you if something goes wrong.

Our service plans can eliminate unexpected, out of pocket expenses for repairs with affordable coverage you can trust beyond the original warranty. It's peace of mind protection you can count on!

The protection you expect, the service you deserve.

When a problem arises and service is required, you need it fixed as fast as possible. But then you're faced with a costly repair bill. Are you and your budget prepared? Especially when you have no way of knowing when or how often service may be needed.

mostly good one crucial design flaw

iamleabee 10/1/2024

Honestly I really liked everything about this fridge for the last two year up until the last 3 days. I bought it 2/24/2022 because I wanted a fridge with the ice maker on the freezer side. I really liked the craft ice I havent had any trouble with either of the ice makers and the fridge side is both wide and deep enough to fit a large pizza box. I also liked that the stainless steel front is magnetized so I can hang things on the front of the fridge with magnets. Sadly for me earlier this week the little plastic catch that holds the door in door shut snapped off. Without that the door in door will not stay shut without tape. I figured I would just replace that plastic piece but...after reaching out to LG USA support on twitter I discovered I would have to replace the whole door assembly for $351. That is just the part not shipping or labor. Suffice to say Im not spending $500-$600 to replace the whole door assembly on a basically new fridge. Especially not with the identical part that might fail again in the exact same way in another two years. So while the door-in-door is a nice concept in reality not worth it because you will end up with a two year old fridge held together with tape.

Doors wont shut

Buthidae 9/26/2024

Im a perfectly responsible adult who lives alone and many times a day I endure the godawful chime of a refrigerator door having been left open so I know I did it. The stupid doors are designed to stay ajar and it takes active slamming to shut them. I hate the refrigerator for that reason.

LG model LRSDS2706S 9/11/2024

We purchased this fridge almost 3 years ago. Since then I have called it in for service at least six times for multiple different reasons overheating and both icemakers not working. The overheating is concerned because it could easily fire. They were very kind with the service requests But then we still have to schedule the services. We are without ice for weeks in order to get it scheduled to the right time for everybody and you spend enough money on a decent product. It should work at least for one year. It is frustrating that we spent so much money on a fridge to have a break this many times and not have the company address it appropriately. As far as durability it Was beautiful upon arrival - stainless steel gorgeous but unfortunately it dents very easily It is very visible in any sort of light once done. Does not hold up well at all with the household with any sort of child clumsy adult lively animal or anything that could possibly bump into the fridge by accident. The external door icemaker is made of plastic on the inside and one of the clips broke so it Has had a decent gap at the top of it just on one side though so it looks crooked But at least its staying up still Did not fall out completely after a year due to normal wear and tear with a family of five.

I bought this when my old fridge died. I love the size and the side by side doors. The different ice options are a nice feature. I didnt think that we would use it but we do. The bigger ice keeps water bottles cold for longer. I am glad we bought this model.

DO NOT BUY THIS FRIDGE - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNEC

Stephen Schoen 8/15/2024

Youve been warned. Its garbage and so is LGs service. The clip that holds the small door together on the right side broke off and under two years. A replacement piece should cost $.50. LG makes you buy a whole new door for over $300. Stay away.please.you will regret buying this fridge. LG is terrible. Shame on you LG..shame.

AzRetiree 8/12/2024

Weve had our refrigerator for 3 years now. Overall it works fine... its a refrigerator. However one of the primary reasons we bought the model was for the craft ice maker which has worked properly for all of about 6 months of it ownership. Unfortunately LG has been less than helpful in repairing it

LG is no longer the brand I can rely on.

angiemor 8/4/2024

We have owned our LG LRSDS2706S for a little over 2 years. I am pleased with how much space the refrigerator and freezer offer and it looks nice. That is where the positives end. The craft ice maker stopped working after 10 months. We had it repaired under warranty and it stopped working again 8 months later. We have not had craft ice since. About 2 weeks ago the regular ice maker began to have issues so now we are stuck trying to troubleshoot that while taking up space in the freezer with ice trays. Within the first year of owning the refrigerator one of my children dropped a tub of yogurt and hit the glass shelf that covered the bottom drawer. It shattered everywhere. LG used to be our go to brand but considering the issues we have had with this refrigerator and also our two year old LG dryer drum splitting it seems that it is time to find a new appliance brand. I dont know what happened but LG is no longer reliable and thats a sad thing to see.

Staying Hopeful but Ice making is abysmal

JustAFrustratedNewOwner 7/24/2024

So we bought this fridge no craft ice just the door mount cube ice maker without really looking too deeply into ALL the reviews and Im SERIOUSLY on the fence of returning it before our 60 day trial is up... Echoing everything else people have said... basically the designers of this fridge line must have never seen a list of typical use cases for refrigerators and blissfully IGNORED every previous existing design cue from other refrigerators from the past. Typical designer hubris in my opinion Oh I can make it better than that..... yah thanks.. LG please find better designers and maybe do some better research? Its a HUGE failure in almost every style point on this fridge.. Lets start from the front and work our way in shall we? First of all.. no outward handles.. and super thick doors you have to reach into the middle gap and either pull down or up to open the doors. When you have your hands full and need to pinky the door open... Nope... not this fridge. Once the doors are open.. you need to reach all the way to the bottom of the drawers.. to grab their handles.. Why? no idea... yes I want to practically drag my knuckles on the ground to open the bottom drawer.. seems super intuitive too.. Also the fridge door has to be ALL THE WAY OPEN to even ALLOW the drawer to open properly and Im just waiting for my kid to try to slam the door by accident and guillotine the whole drawer to smithereens because they left the drawer pulled out. Every other fridge Ive ever seen in my close to 50 years of life the drawers will get pushed closed by the door closing.. I guarantee Ill be ordering replacement drawers for this fridge within 5 years because of this terrible design. Next lets talk about shelving.. Luckily they must have AT LEAST measured a ton of average items to place the shelves at specific heights and it mostly works.. But dont expect to be able to adjust any of them.. theyre all static. The refrigerator side is also completely void of a deli drawer of any kind.. Luckily I have a 3d printer and saved my old Fridgidaire deli drawer as I am now going to have to engineer my own brackets to install one in this Freshman design students thesis project. Turning our attention to the freezer and shelving we are met with the same bottom handle drawer issue and door open all the way issue again but now we also are seeing another couple massive design flaws.. Firstly who puts thin glass shelves in a freezer?.. Freezers typically have very heavy very hard frozen items in them right?.. I chuck a frozen chicken or god forbid a 15 lb thanksgiving bird a little too hard in this puppy and as others have already stated Ill have a million tiny glass pieces all over my Chunky Monkey tm. My solution to this is for now I am going to be wrapping the glass shelving in clear shelf paper to make my own safety glass in the case that this eventually happens to us. Now.. the biggest pet peeve Ice.. I cannot fathom why this freezer has such a small ice-maker tray. This freezer cant even keep up with the ice consumption of ONE person working from home and filling up a sports bottle a few times a day. Much less a whole family.. The Ice plus feature which is supposed to make ice faster does so.. but auto-shuts itself off after 24 hours or so. But even with it on we still run out continually. So you understand the magnitude of ineptitude in this design.. Ice forms at a fairly constant rate at the standard freezer temperature right? This is a known value of time give or take outside conditions altitude etc so the amount of ice an icemaker can produce from the one tray it has is a fixed amount per day basically Ice-plus extra cooling aside . This Icemaker has an ice-tray with 12 ice-cube wells and they are significantly probably about 1/2 the size of a standard ice-maker or traditional manual ice-cube tray. Standard in fridge ice-makers have at least 12 if not 16 wells like a old school ice cube tray and the ice is larger longer moon cubes. so just purely based on that fact alone it makes 1/2 the ice of ANY other ice maker on the market. Add to this the ice-maker is on the door and every time you open the freezer to get something out of it youre pulling the icemaker away from its cooling source. Do this in a 75+degree kitchen while cooking and see how much it retards the icemaking process... Contrast this to an in freezer icemaker where its a fairly closed chamber at the top of the freezer that is definitely not as affected by the door opening and closing and... add another tick against this design masterpiece Again our aftermarket solution after a week of owning it is we now have taken over the ENTIRE top shelf of the freezer for extra trays of ice making and ice storage. And the bottom drawer has a backup bag we bought from the gas station. This is now finally enough ice to keep a family of 3 from ever running out in the hot summers... Something that NEVER happened in 10+ years of our old refrigerator with its very standard design ice-maker. The freezer door dispenser is also maddening as the round robin cycle of the capacitive touch button selector is very annoying.. and makes for extra button presses every time you have to pick what you want. It sounds like theres mechanical geared flaps opening and closing whenever the ice kicks on as well.. I cant wait to see how long those take to fail as well. Lastly we also have the door in door feature that has seemingly failed and broken from countless reviews I have read already. I am waiting patiently for ours to break as weve only had the fridge for about a month now. but I am looking forward to it.. and also to NOT paying any additional money to LG for replacements or repairs.. but doing like any maker-minded person would do.. carefully drill out the bad piece.. and mill out a proper metal piece to replace the latch and epoxy it back into the hole. A fix LG should offer themselves since its SO DEAD SIMPLE but they want your extra $350... So yah.. Basically were weighing our options on this at the moment. we have about 30 days left of trial period from our seller and honestly Im just not sure of what I want to do. The maker part of me is excited to turn this design nightmare into a proper franken fridge that works properly and actually has the features and usefulness that I would want in a new fridge.. but the practical side of me that holds my wallet says.. why bother and just return it before Im stuck with it for the next 10+ years making my own ice 4 times a day and replacing broken parts because of bad design. It feels good to write this review as its helped me put all my thoughts out there hopefully It will help me and others decide as well.

As others have described the convenience door latch is broken. Its poorly engineered with a small piece of plastic used to secure the door. When I reached out to LG via social media the only way to contact them their only solution was to replace the whole door for $340 Its the same plastic piece thats going to break again When I responded asking LG for more support I did not receive a response to any of my messages. Design Flaw - Stay Away

Miked654665 6/25/2024

Do not buy any LG with convenience door. There is a cheap plastic last that broke less than 3 years after owning it. I called LG and customer service and they said its not covered under warranty. So I have a decision to make which is to buy the $380 part plus labor for someone to install it keep the duct tape on thats been holding it closed or buy a new refrigerator. Apparently LG is still using this cheap design even on their high end refrigerators. If they had any pride in their products they would send someone out and repair and replace this obvious design flaw under warranty. Stay far away and this will be my last LG refrigerator.

Best fridge ever

Thiendor 4/20/2024

Beautiful fridge. The drawers have a lot of room and this has made finding and locating items in the freezer much easier. The UV on the water dispenser is also great. The look fits our kitchen perfect with all our other LG appliances. Craft ice is amazing a serious conversation peice when having guests over.

Drawer pulls are on the drawer bottoms very difficult to open for disabled people. Not exactly thrilled with how you select ice water.

Freezes Ice Makers constantly and not cold

JacqueDonald 4/8/2024

This refrigerator is very very disappointing and extremely frustrating. The Craft Ice Maker is nice WHEN it works... The craft ice maker constantly freezes up and dies every 2-3 weeks requiring a hair dryer and thaw time if you want to use it. The fridge itself doesnt keep the temps in the freezer or fridge as requested as the LG green app settings will force themselves back on and make the whole freezer and fridge get just warm enough to gloss everything over and freeze your ice makers up solid again and again. The compressor died in 10 months on mine and still could not get it repaired or replaced. I really can only say that you should seriously consider an alternative to this one...

Spontaneous Door Explosion - Do Not Purchase

Ayesha1 3/25/2024

Our Door-in-Door in the handle version spontaneously exploded in the middle of the night with a loud bang and LG refused to acknowledge that this is a known issue. Instead they blamed us for intentionally damaging our own fridge. We found other reviewers who have experienced the same spontaneous explosions to the door or tempered shelves and received the same lack of customer service. Absolutely dont recommend this shoddy product or LG for their terrible customer service.

Door in Door WILL Fail

AZRL 3/11/2024

This review addresses what we consider to be a significant design issue with LGs Door-in-Door Side-By-Side refrigerator. With the Door-In-Door design whenever opening the refrigerator right door using the upper pocket handle the required force to open the door is transferred through a metal latch that latches into a plastic receiver in the door. Anyone reading this can figure out the problem the force required to open the refrigerator door is transferred to the metal latching mechanism and then to a plastic receiver resulting in failure of the plastic receiver. When this occurs the Door-In-Door swings open unable to latch Note: when this happens to you simply duct tape the two doors together. When this small piece of plastic failed we of course assumed that we would contact LG support and be able to replace the plastic latch receiver. But no as other reviewers have noted the ENTIRE DOOR FRAME MUST BE REPLACED The LG support specialist advised us that the part would be $349.00. Add in tax and a couple of hours of technician time and this is easily a $500 to $600 repair. To make matters worse if a person DOES replace the door the latching mechanism is destined to fail again We visited our local retailer who sells a LOT of LG appliances and confirmed that the design has not changed in the past two years. Still plastic and still set up for failure. We made the decision that we were not going to spend $500-plus to replace the door only to have it fail again. Our solution genius if we do say ourselves was to disable the Door-In-Door design by fusing the outer and inner door together. This was accomplished by applying 3M double-sided mounting tape to the Door-in-Door smaller door seal to effectively create a solid door we kept positive pressure squeezing the doors together with duct tape for a day to ensure a good bond. Works like a charm Total cost of repair? Less than $15.00. Recommendations from an owner of this refrigerator: 1DO NOT purchase the Door-In-Door design. Go to an appliance store take a good look at how the mechanism works and look at the little piece of plastic that is used to latch the doors together. We wish we had looked at it before purchasing. 2If you absolutely must purchase an LG refrigerator make sure it has a single piece door. Ironically the Door-In-Door design initially seemed kind of cool but after the novelty wore off about a week we found we didnt even use it. Same for the craft ice its a novelty. The fact that this is a glaring example of engineered obsolescence by a company that won a sustainability award how rich is that? is not the biggest failure. The larger failure is that LG has not corrected the design nor have they acknowledged the deficiency or provided a remedy for customers. Rather the cheery LG service representative just tells people that they will have to spend $350.00 plus labor to correct the engineered failure of a piece of plastic that costs LG pennies to produce. As a closing note we are enjoying showing off our fix for LGs design flaw and how the door on our $2000 refrigerator is now held together with 15 bucks of 3M tape.

Bad Design of Defective Door-In-Door Latch

Gerryg07 3/4/2024

BAD design for the catch for the door in door latch. It is defective when the clip breaks the whole door needs to be replaced Why not use a metal catch to strengthen something that is used multiple times a day? Why no replacement part to fix this VERY common problem? Currently the only way to fix the catch is to replace the whole door. LG why not demonstrate support for your customers by providing a fix for this design flaw?

NEED ICE? COUNTER TOP ICE MAKER WILL BE NEEDED

Disgruntled Customer 1962 2/24/2024

Overall disappointed with this fridge but more importantly LG itself. I left a voicemail message for not one but two highly ranked executives and neither bothered to respond or have anyone respond. I knew right then and their LG couldnt care less about their customer. My fridge arrived with three scratches on the door. The craft ice shown in every single LG photo show clear round ice. They dont tell you its not round nor clear and only makes 3 balls a day. LG states its my water pressure nope had the plumber come check it. They say its the water. Not only is my entire house filtered but theres a filter built into the fridge itself. The in-door ice maker is woefully incapable of producing enough ice for a family. We are a family of two and run out of ice every single day. Finally the pull-out drawers have slots on the bottom to open the drawers. When youre 63 and in your 60s bending down to basically the floor to open a vegetable drawer is nonsensical.

Large capacity and performance

Jenducpop 2/22/2024

I bought this in early November when my refrigerator of 27 years finally died. I have been looking at fridges for the last several years to prepare myself. I also checked consumer reports which rated this very well. The water/ ice indoor and a glass shelves in the freezer were mandatory. I am very happy with its performance. I have noticed fruit and vegetables lasting longer with the uv feature. I love the space I have needed a second fridge for family holidays in the past not this year. The freezer easily acclimated a 21pound turkey and 10 pound ham as did the fridge part for thawing as well as all sides and incidentals. The craft ice added a wow factor in presentation impressing the family. The door alarm is great peace of mind as is re digital temp settings and display. I dont know what more I can say or how I could be happier with this fridge.

Unhappy customer 99 2/22/2024

The compessor failed after just 2 years. The compressor was replaced under warranty but we were out of operation for nearly a week. We lost ovet $ 500 of food. LG initial offer was $ 200 then $ 250 ... finally $ 300. What a crock.

Door surface quality is poor

tfkonopacki 2/20/2024

Caution Surface material is extremely delicate. Within the first day one dent. After 11mo 10 dents and dozens of fine scratches. For 20yrs we have always owned stainless steel type refrigerators and weve never caused a dent. This refrigerator dents from the most minor contact and it scratches from the back side of flexible business card magnets. In less than a year it looks like it went through trench warfare. It is clear that either LG or their supplier are trying to save money by compromising quality Likely thinner door face material or inferior material I elevated the issue to LGs Presidential Liaison Team. They were not interested to investigate the quality concern nor were they interested in offering replacement doors. So Id suggest buying a nice craft ice tray and not buying this refrigerator. Otherwise you will have a really nice/expensive refrigerator with embarrassing doors. To be fair we like the craft ice and we like that there is no catch pan for the water dripping no water build up = no water stains. The drawer shape is a slight annoyance. Because the drawer width gets larger near the front face it crashes against the refrigerator door near the hinge unless you have it open 100

Fridge malfunction

Anise Pyronneau 2/17/2024

I purchased a series of appliances from LG A washer dryer dishwasher microwave stove and fridge. I also referred my sister to them. What a way of treating a customer who spent thousands. My appliances are not even five years old. My fridge stopped working. I called them and they said they would send me a technician to fix it. Knowing that the compressor needed to be replaced. I told them that the previous technician had found out. My fridge was unplugged and EVERYTHING rotted. In six days the Lg technician came. I lost EVERYTHING in my fridge. A few days ago I had done grocery shopping not counting what I already had in my fridge. I had to order OUT for me and my two sons during those days. They had instructed me to call after their technician left to inquire about my food loss. To add insult to injury they offered me $150 for groceries and after that they told me the maximum was $200. Eating out alone with tho boys surpass that $200. What frustrate me the most I could not speak to anyone about it. Have receipts from my previous grocery shopping. I have pictures of my fridge with all the food I had to trash. I will NEVER refer someone to LG not EVER. All they know is to take your money. Customer service is poor. Tyeshia in Liaison sent me a text informing me that they will be sending $200 without giving me a chance to speak to someone although I requested that after a missed call from the.m. If that is how you treat customers who spent thousands of dollars buying your appliances I wonder how they would treat someone who spent less. They will never have my business again. These people raised my blood pressure and almost sent me to the hospital. I live in New York and buying anything let alone groceries is expensive. My fridge is empty and they want to send me $200. I do not know how you sleep at night after taking advantage of people like me. I tried to add images however i could not.
